SQUIRTLE Domestic Shorthair Adult Male in Caryville, Wisconsin

My story
If you're looking for a PLAYFUL kitty and you're ready to play, Play, PLAY and keep active with a wild child cat with the personality and fast paced mind of a savannah, then look no further. Squirtle here is a handsome man who needs a special home that will give him lots of time, attention, and be willing to work with him on his feistiness as well. Squirtle is ready for a forever home with no kids and no other cats. He also requires a home with experienced and patient cat parents who can give him the time, love, and activities that he needs. Something that is wonderful to Squirtle is to have a little time outside on his harness and lead with you or to go on a hike with you in a catpack. This helps to calm his active and goofy mind. He does walk pretty well with you once its on, however I recommend wearing gloves while getting the harness onto him as it tends to be a struggle. He does cuddle and enjoys giving and receiving attention a lot too once he has gotten his playfulness and energy out. His feistiness can come out if he doesn't get enough play time and his mind starts to get more anxious and overstimulated. If this happens he may start to play with you (particularly your hands and feet) and will even bite if you don't grab a wand toy to play with him with first. If you notice he is getting in a play mood and you play with him, then he will calm down again after playtime. You can usually tell when he gets in this mood because his posture and face turns into what I call "demon mode"; this is when his ears go back and his pupils widen, and then he starts to do a funky meow while he stares at your hands as if they are meat. I've been working with him on his biting though and he has gotten much better than he was previously. He doesn't bite too hard anymore with me and if I tell him a firm NO and play with him instead he'll be content once again. Squirtle may need to be outside your room at night at least until you feel you would be comfortable having him in with you. I, as the foster, have him just in my bedroom with me all of the time and he does well and cuddles with me at night majority of the time, but every once in awhile if he gets too much in a playful mood while you're sleeping he'll start trying to play with your feet and hands again. I have had to put him in a short "time-out" on occasion when he's having one of his more angsty days. I go with positive reinforcement as much as possible though and will give him a treat (a wet cat treat or piece of cheese) whenever he's being cuddly or playing nicely, and make sure to play with him once I notice he's in the mood to play. If you are looking for a furrever furbaby to spoil with tons of fun contraptions and maybe even try a cat running wheel or other fun ideas for stimulating a kitty's mind, please apply for Squirtle today! Don't forget, Squirtle will keep you active and he'll give you hugs and love as well when he's in his calmer moods too!
